There are various studies and researches analyzing how cities can provide a better the quality of life. Every year we read articles about the “top ten most livable cities”. When examining these surveys, we see that the common criteria that are underlined are: safety and security, cleanness, public transportation, environment, health, urban planning and international business opportunities.
The researches demonstrate that we can reduce the traffic crashes up to 40-60% if we design the cities pedestrian oriented. And when we take a look at the best practices from the world, we can clearly see that in the cities where walking and cycling are encouraged, there can be an improved economy, increased efficiency, an improvement in air quality and an overall brand and view of the city.
