Dr. Acar graduated from Istanbul Technical University, Civil Engineering Faculty in 1971. In 1977 and 1978, worked for Istanbul Municipality to prepare the first bus-way project for Istanbul. In 1990, assigned as the Head of Transportation Department of Greater Istanbul Municipality responsible from roads, traffic and transportation. From 1989 to 1999, he lectured in Mimar Sinan University, Town and Regional Planning Department on traffic and transportation subjects, where got a second degree in City Planning, then followed by Ph. Degree. In 1999 and 2000, he directed Izmir Greater City Municipality’s bus companies, ESHOT and IZULAS as General Director. From 2000 to 2004, worked as Assistant Secretary General in Greater Izmir Municipality responsible from traffic and transportation, implemented the first integration project in Turkey between rail, sea and bus systems. Currently, he is working in Yüksel Project Engineering and Consulting Firm as Project Manager for traffic and transport projects.
