10TH LIVABLE CITIES SYMPOSIUM

Alan Kadıköy, October 10, 2022

“Livable Cities Depend on ‘Green’: Green Economy, Green Finance, Green Investment”

The climate crisis is a serious danger for Türkiye due to its geographical, climatic, and socioeconomic conditions. Adaptation to the climate crisis and measures to be taken against the threats brought by the crisis are among the issues that need to be solved quickly. Türkiye’s ratification of the Paris Agreement in October 2021 and its commitment to net zero emissions until 2053, which are the steps taken by Türkiye in the fight against the climate crisis, are positive and important developments in this regard. However, cities that are considered “the cradle of the climate crisis” for many reasons, from industry to transportation, from population density to construction, must play an active role in this struggle. The steps to be taken in this context will make cities more livable. The way to this depends on green, the green economy, green finance, and green investment.
