MAYOR OF KONAK MUNICIPALITY

She started her university education at Middle East Technical University in 1974. She became student representative by the foundation METU Student Representatives’ Council. She was one of the founders of Ankara Women Association. During the period of 1980 coup d’etat, she had to interrupt her education. She graduated from 9 Eylül University, that she enrolled in 1980, in 1986. She took charge as the lawyer of the trial known as “Manisalı Gençler (Youngs from Manisa)” in December in 1995. She was assigned in the constitution of İzmir Women Platform. From 1992 to 1996, she was the unique woman alderman of Balçova Municipality. In that period, she was İzmir Metropolitan Municipality Parliamentary Deputy Speaker and Assignee of Mayor Yüksel Çamur. She was among the founders of Social Democracy Association İzmir Branch in 2003. Pekdaş, who was elected as president of İzmir Bar in 2010, became president of İzmir Bar for the second time in 2012. She took part in the struggle for the sake of defending the rights of protest and demonstration during “Gezi Direnişi (Gezi Park Resistance)” in June 2013.
