Peter van Meir is an industrial designer, born in the southern part of the Netherlands, educated at the University of Technology in Delft and now working for npk design, part of Yard9. Ever since he was a kid, he wanted to have an impact on the space that he was living in and the way that people were using and sharing it. That is exactly what he is doing today, designing the public / shared space. Through the years, Peter noticed that the profession ‘ the public designer’ is changing. Where Yard 9 used to design the products like benches, waste bins and light poles, they are now involved in much more than just those products. They are designing systems and services and the products are just the tool to facilitate those services.
