SOLVING ISTANBUL’S TRAFFIC PROBLEM [PDF]

Ali Halabi graduated in 2005 from the Lebanese University of Beirut with a BA in Marketing Management. He started his career in a technology startup after which he transitioned to Procter & Gamble where he served several assignments across the Middle East and Turkey. During his last assignment in P&G Istanbul, a city that he calls home now, he found out that 8 out of 10 cars in Istanbul have only the driver, which he saw as a huge inefficiency in transportation that is causing Istanbul’s notorious traffic.

In October 2013 he started Volt, a mobile app that connects any car owner that have empty seats with passengers going in the same direction. Volt helps car owners get back their car ownership costs while offering passengers the convenience of a car travel at affordable rates that were not possible before. Volt launched in July 2015 and today enjoys the support of 3 of Turkey’s top internet investors. Volt aims to solve Istanbul’s traffic problem by increasing the efficiency of car usage in traffic, and thus reducing the number of cars needed in the long run.
