PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES AND ROAD SAFETY [PDF]

After a career in a major Dutch shipping company, started to work for the Dutch ministry of Transport, Public Works and Water Management in 1991 as policy adviser in the field of public transport and the mobility of people with mobility restraints. He worked for two years with the European Commission on issues related to the transport by road of freight and passengers. From 2006 to 2008 he was resident twinning adviser at the Ministry of Transport and Communications at Ankara for an EU-funded project for assistance to the Turkish road transport sector. In other EU-funded projects he provided the ministry of Transport and Communications with a road transport strategy for the period 2010-2015, participated in a twinning project on intermodal transport for the ministry of Transport, Maritime Affairs and Communications and assisted that ministry in developing plans for improving the mobility of elderly people and people with disabilities.

In 2012 he organised a seminar at Ankara on road safety.

He is the co-author of various reports and publications on the mobility of people with mobility restraints.

He is married to a Turkish lady and can, therefore, be considered an enişte. He lives at Ankara.
