Having been graduated as Deputy Police Chief from Police Academy, Ümit Güney has worked as Police Station Deputy Chief, Squad Leader, Chief of Civilian Team Investigation in İstanbul Kadıköy Police Department. While he was working as an investigator in Deforcement Department, he served his military duty in Bingöl for short term. Güney participated in Kosova United Nations Mission in 2000 providing consultancy services to Kosovo Law Enforcement Organization for 18 months in Pristina. When he returned to Ankara Traffic Inspection Department as Captain in 2001, he organized trainings on traffic. Meanwhile he made a master on “Traffic Criminalty” in Forensic Medicine Department of Ankara University and researches on “Crime Scene Investigation in Traffic Accidents”. He was appointed to Diyarbakır in 2003 for his eastern task and kept working until 2007 as Traffic Division Chief and Regional Traffic Division Chief. Following his eastern task, Ümit was appointed to Eskişehir. He entered into Haiti Peackeeping Force where he performed traffic consultant and United Nations traffic accidents investigation expert for 18 months. After returning to the country when he was Chief of Police, he was assigned as Head of Transportation Division of Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality upon an invitation in 2011. Güney paid special attention to public transportation and bicycle areas during his task. Having served in this division until March 2013, Güney still works in the same organization as Head of Foreign Affairs. He speaks fluent English. He is married with two children.
