Mr Santhosh Kodukula (Sunny) has a MSc. Degree in Industrial Ecology and Environmental Management from Mahidol University, Thailand, where he specialised in Urban and Regional Planning with focus on Transport Planning and Management.
Currently, Sunny works as a project co-ordinator at the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment, Energy in the research unit on Mobility and International Cooperation. He coordinates projects on urban mobility at an international level for clients including the European Commission and various national governments.
Prior to the Wuppertal Institute, Sunny was the Global Coordinator and EcoMobility Program Manager at the ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability. During his work at ICLEI, Sunny has provided technical assistance to cities on sustainable urban mobility policy, planning and implementation. He also led city-to-city exchanges and facilitated knowledge transfer.
Sunny also worked with the Deutsche Gesellschaft fuer Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) in the Sustainable Urban Transport Project (SUTP) providing technical assistance to national and local governments in Asia and Pacific to implement and promote sustainable mobility.
Sunny has been involved in the design and delivery of over 80 training courses on sustainable urban mobility and transport targeted at policy-makers, urban planners and transport planners in various developing countries.
His research interests include public space modelling, accessible urban design, planning for pedestrians and cyclists, and transport and liveability. Sunny has contributed to various published papers and reports, and newspapers.
His specialties include, planning for active mobility policy and planning; bus rapid transit (BRT) planning, monitoring and evaluation; transportation demand management (TDM) policy and planning; public spaces development and policy advice; sustainable urban development.
