Professor Mengüç received his BS and MS from the Middle East Technical University in Ankara, and his PhD from Purdue University, USA in 1985, all in Mechanical Engineering. In 1985, he joined the University of Kentucky as Assistant Professor and was promoted to the ranks of associate in 1988 and full professor in 1993. He was elected to committee of Chairman in 2008. He is a honorary member of The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and International Center of Heat and Mass Transfer. He was the Associate Technical Editor of ASME Journal of Heat Transfer and now he is the Editor-in-Chief at Journal of Quantitative Spectroscopy and Radiative Transfer. He was awarded an Honorary Professorship at Escuela Superior Politécnica del Litoral, Ecuador in 2006. Between 2010-2016, He became the Turkish delegate of the Energy Commission for the European Union Framework Programmes (EU-FP7).From December 2008 to now, he has been working as Founding Coordinator and Head of Mechanical Engineering and Founding Director of Center for Energy, Environment and Economy (CEEE) at Özyeğin University. In 2016, Prof. Mengüç became a member of Academy of Science.
