Dr. Stefanos STEFANIDIS since October 2023 has been appointed Researcher at Hellenic Agricultural Organization “DIMITRA” (ELGO-DIMITRA) – Forest Research Institute (FRI) at Thessaloniki. He holds a BSc in Forest Engineering from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and an MSc, and a PhD in the field of Forest Hydrology from the same university. His doctoral thesis focuses on the hydrological response of forested watersheds to climate variability. Additionally, he brings extensive experience in using Earth Observation (EO) data to detect and map natural disasters and cascading effects. In detail he has extensive knowledge on hydrological modeling, erosion modeling, GIS Analyst, Hydrometeorological parameters trends analysis, ecosystem services mapping and use of Google Earth Engine platform. Dr. Stefanidis has more than 60 peer review papers on international conferences and scientific journals and more than 10 years of experience in the implementation of National and European environmental. He was earth observation specialist in OMIKRON S.A from 2012-2023. Moreover, he has teaching experience in Universities, both at graduate and post graduate level.
