She is working to integrate urban development and accessibility issues into broader transport projects across the network, a Rockefeller Foundation financed project on the urban poor and mobility in India, as well as continuing her previous research on modeling and visualization of economic flows and processes. Prior to joining EMBARQ in January 2012, Dr. King worked as Principal Research Scholar at the Center for Study of Science, Technology and Policy (CSTEP), in Bangalore, where she helped lead the Next Generation Infrastructure Laboratory from August 2008 through December 2011. At CSTEP, she worked on projects including a study of the urban poor based on a survey of slums in Bangalore focusing on links between livelihood, mobility, and shelter and institutional aspects of transportation policy in Bangalore and Ahmedabad. She also is a non-resident Associate at the School of Foreign Service (SFS) at Georgetown University, where she taught courses on International Political Economy, trade negotiations, country risk analysis, international banking, and the digital economy. Previously, she served as Academic Director of the Masters Program in Latin American Studies in SFS at Georgetown, and held posts at the G7 Group, the Organization of American States, the US Department of State, and Mellon Bank. She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin, and a BS in Foreign Service from Georgetown University. She spent a year as a Rotary Exchange student in Oruro, Bolivia, and more than a year as a Fulbright Scholar in Mexico.
