CANAN EDİBOĞLU

EMBARQ TURKEY BOARD CHAIR

Canan Ediboğlu is a non-executive board member with ING bank and with Aygaz in Turkey, since 2009. Canan was the country chair and CEO of Shell Turkey between 2001 and 2009, until her retirement. Before Canan was the CFO, of Shell Turkey, preceded by a series of positions within Shell, all streams, in the disciplines of marketing, treasury and planning, starting in 1980. During her  tenure as CEO and country chair of Shell Turkey, she was involved and leading a significant number of  M&A s and nurtured the growth of Shell in Turkey, next to daily management and operations.She started her professional career as the Research Assistant at the Southampton University in UK and returned to Turkey in 1980 when she first joined Shell to be appointed as the Planning Manager. Canan received her secondary education at Ancaster House School and studied economics in Southampton University (Bsc), receiving her Masters Degree (Msc) in Financial Managerial Control in the same university.

Current NGO work:

– Board Member of World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Turkey.
– Founding Board member and currently Chairperson  of Embarq – Centre for Sustainable
– Founding Board Member of Common Purpose in Turkey, a British NGO helping to build up competence of future potential leaders.
– Member of Global Relations Forum (think tank group in Turkey)
– Board member of Autism Society in Turkey

Former roles:

– Former President of PETDER – Turkish Association of Petroleum Industrialists. She was the Chairwomen between 2004-2008
– Former Chairperson of Oil Industry Council Turkish Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB) (2006-2010). This is an ongoing role until next General Assembly meeting.
– Board Member of YASED  (Foreign Investment Association, Turkey)
