Baret Binatlı joined WRI in 2022 as Urban Coordinator for the Zero Carbon Buildings Project. Prior to joining WRI, he served as Project Engineer, Site Manager, and Project Manager on a number of international civil engineering projects in the continental USA, Alaska, Canada, Mozambique, Hungary, Panama, Colombia, and Guyana, acting. He is an active member of the Engineers Without Borders Organization (EWB) and has previously volunteered in under-developed regions as a Site Engineer/Supervisor on water supply, sanitation, and renewable energy projects in South Africa, Ethiopia, India, and Peru.
Baret Binatlı holds Bachelor’s degrees in civil engineering and Geological Engineering from Istanbul Technical University (ITU), and a Master of Science degree in Geotechnical Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in California, PMP-certified by the Project Management Institute (PMI), Certified Passive House Designer/Consultant accredited by the Passive House Institute (PHI) and Building Energy Performance Specialist certified by the Turkish Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change. He is assistant director of the PMI Turkey Chapter and a board member of the Zero Energy and Passive House Association (SEPEV), in Turkey.
