Thierry Hoppe was appointed as the Consul General of Denmark in Istanbul in August 2021. Mr. Hoppe has been working in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark for more than 20 years. He first started his career as a commercial consultant at Dansk Industri and Accenture Copenhagen. Then, Mr. Hoppe has served in the Danish MFA as the Head of Africa Department, the Head of UN Department, First Secretary of the Embassy in Beijing, the Head of Trade at the Embassy in Seoul, the Head of Trade at the Embassy in Paris, and the Head of China Trade Team at the Embassy in Beijing.
Born in Denmark to a Danish-French family and trained as an economist at the University of Copenhagen, Mr. Hoppe is a career diplomat with an international perspective and close ties to the business world. He speaks Danish, English and French, with a basic knowledge of German, Spanish and Chinese (Mandarin).
